The Coronavirus disease or commonly (COVID-19) has wreaked havoc across the globe. Apparently it is an infectious airborne viral pneumonia caused by a novel virus belonging to the family coronaviridae. From loss of human lives to extreme devastation of the economy, the virus that causes COVID-19 has disrupted nearly every facet of human life around the world. But a lot of questions about the origin of this destructive virus still remain to be known. In the last 50 years, for the first time there are questions about whether we are dealing with a pandemic caused by scientific research.
While the Chinese government’s obstruction may keep us from knowing for sure whether the virus, SARS-CoV-2, came from the wild directly or through a lab in Wuhan or if genetic experimentation was involved? There are innumerable questions that need answers. We need to know. To provoke thought on this issue,on 17 th August, 2021, the Red Lantern Analytica was fortunate enough to have with them a very eminent guest, Mr. Michael Johns who is a co-founder of the U.S. Tea Party movement. He served previously as White House speechwriter to President George H.W. Bush and a Heritage Foundation foreign policy analyst. During the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, he was a leading proponent for aiding Afghanistan’s Northern Alliance resistance forces and, following the Soviet departure from Afghanistan, he managed global program development for a U.S. government-sponsored political development institute. His interview on “Decoding the origin of the Wuhan Virus” was a very fruitful one that yielded great information about the virus that wreaked havoc across the globe. Following are the questions that were forward to him on behalf of the Red Lantern Analytica.
He was asked about what he thought about the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic and whether it was a state sponsored bio-terrorism or not. To which he replied by recollecting the history of the virus and the research that went on to find out the real culprits.
Mr Johns also pointed out the targets set by the CCP that they actually want to achieve by initiating the COVID-19 pandemic. On being asked about the COVID-19 pandemic, a Chinese initiative to revise (or at least disrupt) the US led global order, he promptly replied that the US doesn’t consider it as its competitor.
On being asked should democracies need to be cautious about China’s intention in the post-COVID world , and how should nations across the world unite together to fight the Chinese regime who considers human rights violations as the their birthright, how should we stop them, Mr Johns was delighted to answer this question and the very first point that he marked was absolute economic decoupling by all nations with China. That is the primary way in which we can hold China accountable for what it did. He also pointed out the selective outrage of the major human rights organizations across the world who are now turning blind eye to Chinese brutality and to its war against humanity.
Mr Johns also held the view that India has done a great job in fighting the Covid 19 most efficiently. He praised the Indian leadership and glorified the US India collaboration to fight China. He also advised India to decouple with China in all aspects.
Lastly, the vote of thanks was delivered by the interviewer Ms Sreoshi Sinha , Research Fellow, Red Lantern Analytica.
